WHAT ARE WE ABOUT

favorite

At (RE)TUMIA™, we believe every piece of clothing carries a story. From the miles it has seen to the memories it holds, our upcycled shirts are more than just fabric—they’re a second chance, a fresh start, and a new adventure waiting to unfold.

Each one-of-a-kind design is crafted from pre-loved sportswear, giving new life to materials that would otherwise be forgotten.

By wearing (RE)TUMIA™, you’re not just putting on a shirt—you’re continuing its journey. Who wore it before? Where has it been? And where will it go next? That’s up to you.

Every thread has a tale. Ready to add yours?

This t-shirt holds two firsts: my first Nairobi Marathon and my first 6km run in a long time—with my sister by my side. Back then, I was still new to the city, searching for my place. Now, nearly five years later, I’ve found so much more than a place—I’ve found a home, a rhythm, and a deep love for Nairobi. Every thread in this shirt carries the heartbeat of those early steps and the journey that followed.

I’ve been part of your joy and your fire. First, I felt the lightness in your steps as you ran the Stanchart 10km with your bestie—two hearts reunited, sharing the city and every stride. Then came the End PPTE run. I clung to your back as you pushed past the noise, the doubt, and flew into second place in the women’s category. What a shift—from celebration to competition. And through it all, I’ve held the sweat, the stories, and the spirit that makes you you.

I’ve been there through the storms and the stillness, through doubt, sweat, and quiet wins no one saw but you. Every thread in me carries your resilience—the kind that doesn’t shout but shows up, again and again. You’ve faced the tough days, the turning points, the quiet milestones. And now? You walk taller, run stronger, live louder.
You’ve earned this moment.
And me? I’m just proud to say—I was there when you realized: you got it.

One shirt came from the Netherlands, but its spirit was Kenyan—created to support refugees through sport. It became my first workout companion during my first month in Kenya, soaking in every run, every breath, every new beginning. The other? My first hockey team tee, worn with pride as we stepped into our first competition together. Different sport, different story, same fire. Together, these shirts remind me that identity isn’t just where you come from, but the courage to keep moving forward—carrying your roots while carving out new roads.

It started with a one-time run, a different team, and a shirt that wasn’t meant to stick. But sometimes the things we carry—even the ones that seem random—end up shaping our story. A new coach, a teasing nickname, and the choice to show up anyway. This shirt reminds us: it doesn’t matter where you started or what others call you. What matters is that you kept going, stayed true to your path, and grew into your own.

One half of this shirt carries a big brother legacy — handed down through rugby fields, worn with pride, and rooted in brotherly love since 2012. A quiet symbol of support and strength. The other half was born on the slopes of Kilimanjaro. After an accident turned the mountain into a memory of pain, each marathon became a step toward healing. In 2025, this shirt marked the moment strength returned — a true comeback cloth.
